Hello everyone! Welcome to the 5th Annual Grell Sutcliff-FC Cosplay contest! Five years, wow. That's half a decade!

If you're interested, or just want an idea of the kind of entries we've received in the past, you can check out the entries and winners from last year's contest here: grellsutcliff-fc.deviantart.co…

:rose: Rules :rose:

Please read and understand ALL of the following rules. If you do not follow the rules, it will make it harder for the other judges and myself to accurately score your entry.

:bulletred: Entries must be in by Saturday, September 14th @ 11:59 pm Eastern.

:bulletred: You must be a group  member to enter.

:bulletred: You must be the creator of the costume.

:bulletred: To enter, please NOTE the club at any time before the deadline. Your note should include the following:

:pointr: The main photo you are entering to the contest. This will appear in the journal as well as the contest gallery, and will also be used for artistic judging criteria. (When your entry is accepted, GS-FC will put your main photo into the contest gallery folder.)

:pointr: Additional photos so we can see different views of your costume and/or detail shots. Remember- we can't see your costume in person, so give us enough visuals to judge. If you only have one photo you may still enter, but please give a detailed summary. If you are cosplaying a non-canon costume (for example, a outfit from a doujin), please include a reference photo.

:pointr: A summary of your costume. What parts are you proud of? What kind of technical skills did you use or learn? This free talk space will give judges insight into the construction and creation of your costume. Please mention which pieces were bought/found and which were crafted by you.

:bulletred: You may enter a maximum of two costumes to the contest, but each one must be a different version (ie butler, shinigami, choir boy, Ophelia, etc). Please send a different note for each entry.

:bulletred: Cosplays and photos do not need to be newly made for this contest.

:bulletred: If you entered or won last year's cosplay contest you are welcome to enter again this year, but ONLY if your costume is a new entry or an improved old entry. If this is the case, please describe what has  been improved in your summary.

:bulletred: Your main entry photo may include other people, but Grell must be present and quite visible.

:bulletred: You may enter the contest as a group if there are other club members cosplaying in the photo (ie Sebastian, Undertaker etc), but it is up to the group to decide how they will split/share a prize upon winning. The Grell in your group must be a club member since he is the focus of the contest.

:bulletred: When you note your entry to the club, please include your experience level. If you are unsure of your level, just let us know and we will help place you.

:pointr: Beginner: You have not won a cosplay contest in the past, you have made less than five costumes.

:pointr: Intermediate: You have won less than five contests, you have made less than twelve costumes.

:pointr: Advanced: You have won five or more contests, you have made a dozen or more costumes.

:bulletred: Winners will be decided per skill level by a small panel of judges with focus on these three criteria:

:pointr: Construction: The quality, skill and effort put into how you made your cosplay. Sew a lining into the coat? Handcraft your props? These kinds of things are what we are looking for in this category, so make sure to be thorough in your written summary. Also, the more your costume has been crafted by you instead of bought, the higher you will score. This will make up 40% of your score.

:pointr: Accuracy: How close your cosplay is to official images and depictions of Grell. Little details go a long way in this category. As mentioned above, if your cosplay is based off a fan-made work, please include a reference photo for comparison. This will make up 35% of your score.

:pointr: Artistic Quality: The pose, lighting, clarity and overall presentation of your main photo. This is where you can give your entry some character, emotion and passion. Full-body photos will score higher than head shots. You may add minor digital effects such as photo enhancement and borders, but please nothing on the verge of photo-manipulation. This will make up 25% of your score.

:bulletred: In addition to winners from each skill level, there will be one Best in Show. If all goes smoothly we will also have some Judge's Choice and Honorable Mentions.
